Reviewing the Basics of Program Evaluation
On June 8, 2023, recent grant applicants as well as former and existing grantees interacted with their peers in an evaluation workshop, “Taming the Beast of Evaluation.” In this learning session, former Health Equity Scholar Amanda Shi (MPH, MPA) facilitated her presentation with the help of PHPDA staff and volunteers. Together, we navigated program evaluations, aiming to clarify and answer questions like: What is program evaluation? What is the purpose of conducting evaluations?

To support our grantees and applicants through work that’s “more than just cutting a check,” PHPDA is continuing to facilitate and host more grantee- and applicant-focused learning sessions. We want to identify gaps where community organizations face administrative and funding challenges, to help alleviate this region’s efforts to eliminate health disparities and increase access to health care.
