Upcoming Changes to PHPDA Grantmaking Program
We’re changing our grant program in 2027 to better meet grantees’ needs
Over the last few years, we have heard from grantees about how we can better support their efforts in making real change in our communities and, more transformative, equity-centered changes to healthcare.
Here is what we heard:
- Provide flexible, multi-year funding
- Invest in workforce development and training
- Support organizational capacity building
- Focus on prevention and early intervention
Transformation requires collective action—our new grant model is designed to support it
We are introducing a cohort model to our grant cycle, where grantees are working in the same focus area. Cohort members will learn from and amplify one another’s efforts.

A note to current 2026 Major Grantees
If you are currently receiving funding through our existing grant program, you will remain eligible for renewal under those guidelines up to the maximum of three years of funding. Renewal information will be shared in early 2027. Current grantees interested in applying for the new program will be eligible if their program falls within the 2027 focus area. We will share information about the process directly with those organizations.
