Mobile Dental Clinic – Autoclave Sterilizers

Grantee: Medical Teams International
Timeframe: October 2024 – December 2024 | Amount: $15,000
Medical Teams International will purchase two SciCan Statim 5000 autoclave sterilizers to serve as primary units in two of its clinic operatories. This investment will enable MTI to rotate sterilizers for maintenance and repair without disrupting clinic operations. More importantly, it will provide the reliability needed to confidently schedule and deliver essential dental care to underserved communities in King County.
Each clinic depends on a primary 5000 model autoclave sterilizer, with smaller, older 2000 models as backups. Frequent equipment failures slow workflow and risk clinic cancellations, leaving patients waiting longer for care. To ensure uninterrupted service, each clinic requires two fully operational sterilizers, but costly repairs and the need to share equipment between mobile vans limit overall clinic capacity. Without reliable backups, clinics cannot operate, resulting in postponed care, frustrated staff, and a reduced ability to serve those in need.
