Virgil Wade, Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development Authority’s (PHPDA’s) Executive Director, is stepping down this Friday, February 28. The PHPDA Governing Council and staff are incredibly grateful for Virgil’s steady thoughtfulness and commitment to our mission during his tenure. His leadership has included improvements in our organization’s grantmaking processes and reimagining our investments in the health of our community and the use of our campus.
He is leaving us in a good position to address the challenges we set for ourselves as an organization charged with making purposeful investments that will improve the health and wellbeing of our community, especially those who find themselves at its margins because of inequitable and unjust systems.
Beginning in March, PHPDA’s Governing Council will begin efforts to identify an interim executive director. Our work will continue, guided by a reflective and future-oriented strategic planning retreat of the Governing Council last year and our dedicated staff. PHPDA is committed to identifying how best to use the resources we steward for the advancement of long-lasting structural changes, the type that will ensure a future of equitable and sustainable health and healthcare in King County.
