So You’re Writing a Grant
On March 7, 2023, PHPDA’s former and existing grantees as well as recent applicants participated in a grantwriting workshop, “Take the Mystery Out of Grantwriting!” This learning session was found to be of interest to many of our audience members, so we worked with Jeff Natter, former Executive Director of the PHPDA and former Manager of Ryan White HIV Program Public Health – Seattle King County to help facilitate.
Attendees were asked: “Why do you apply for grants?” and “How can we persuade funders that our program is a good fit for their funding priorities?” providing a presentation to improve our local health organization grantwriters’ words, data, and actions.
To support our grantees and applicants through work that’s “more than just cutting a check,” PHPDA is planning to facilitate and host more grantee- and applicant-focused learning sessions. We want to identify gaps where community organizations face funding challenges and help alleviate this region’s efforts to eliminate health disparities and increase access to health care.
